What are All-on-4s?

All-on-4s refers to four strategically placed implants that are used to hold a full denture plate in place. These implants are ideal for denture patients who are tired of having their prosthetic slip and fall out during the day. Not only do the implants provide a more secure fit, but the denture is smaller and more comfortable to wear. Implants are seen as permanent, so once they’ve been placed and given time to heal, you’ll always have a proper foundation for your dentures.

Why are All-on-4s needed?

The reason you might need all-on-4s is because your denture isn’t fitting properly or you want a smaller and less noticeable prosthetic. You might have trouble with the denture slipping and falling out throughout the day, and you’re looking for a way to improve the way that it fits. Implants themselves are surgically embedded into the jawbone, which are then permanently in place for future prosthetics. The implants are safe, reliable and can withstand the force and pressure of regular chewing and eating.

Who is a candidate for All-on-4s?

Most patients are good candidates for all-on-4s. We will examine your mouth and gums to determine if the implants are right for you. In order for implants to heal properly, they need enough bone to be supported. If you have issues with bone loss, we might suggest having a bone grafting done to further support the new implants.

What happens during All-on-4 treatment?

The first step is to place four implants strategically on one complete arch. This is done through surgery, where the titanium implants are embedded into the jawbone. The implants will then fuse with the bone over the course of a few months. Once this occurs, we will make new overdentures for your mouth. These overdentures snap onto the implants and can be removed for easy cleaning and storage. You’ll need to have the denture replaced after five to seven years depending on the amount of wear they receive.
